Beautiful, numbers matching, low mileage example of a low production Corvette. The odometer is mechanically limited, but based on the cars history and prior owners records, I believe the mileage to be an original 71,000. A strike in 1969 caused the 1970 year to be extremely low production. Only 17,316 Corvette's were made, and of them only 6,648 were convertibles. Add the combination of the 350/300HP motor, 4 speed and Marlboro Maroon exterior color and you have a very low production vehicle.
I have owned this car for over 4 years, and it has been meticulously maintained. It is kept in a climate controlled environment, received regular servicing and never goes outside if there is a chance of rain. The car is very tight and is a blast to drive. In the four years I have owned the car, I have only put about 400 miles on it. Once a year I go to Corvette weekend at Ocean City Maryland (about 120 mile round trip) and the car tracks straight, runs cool and gets thumbs up from everyone. Other than that, I only drive it to car shows. With the exception of the clock, everything works great. The gauges, lights, radio, and electric antenna all work perfectly. Even the windshield wipers work great. (I had to check - I have never had this car in the rain!) This is a very nice car.
Exterior- paint is excellent. Very small scratch above the passenger side front tire- it is so minor I couldn't get it to show up in pictures. The "T" in "Corvette" fell off the back. Just happened and haven't had a chance to order a replacement. Convertible top is in good shape (black).
Interior - When I bought the car, I freshened up the interior. Installed new carpet, all new trim, new center console, detailed the dash and installed a new radio (looks original, but modern electronics). I was going to freshen up the door panels, but never got around to it.
Mechanical - excellent shape. Motor is relatively fresh (the guy I bought it off had all the receipts) and it runs great. Excellent oil pressure and runs cool. Pulls strong. I had the transmission and brakes completely and professionally redone right after I bought the car - shifts like butter and stops great. Only known issue is the heater core. I bypassed it (new ones are about $50) since I never drive it when it's cold or wet.
Selling because I want a nice MOPAR to work on. I had fun with this car, but I'm not really a "Corvette" guy. Also selling because this car is actually too nice for me! I get nervous driving it around because it's in such great shape and so low mileage! lol!
For sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. NADA values - Low Retail - $34K, Average Retail $45K, High Retail - $58K
